Tempus Resources funds gold exploration in Canada and Ecuador with $4M raise

TEMPUS Resources (ASX: TMR) has raised $4 million to fund its next stage of exploration at its low risk, high producing, high grade mine in British Columbia, Canada. Tempus has two major projects: Blackdome-Elizabeth in Canada and Zamora in Ecuador. The two projects offer investors a good balance of a high-risk, high reward play against certainty (in Canada), where there is an existing resource Tempus feels it can expand on. Much of the money raised will go towards the Blackdome-Elizabeth Project, which comprises the Blackdome Gold Mine and Elizabeth Gold Deposit located in the Tier-1 jurisdiction of British Columbia, Canada. Blackdome and Elizabeth are two deposits, making up one project that is significantly de-risked by previous production history, with demonstrated...

Gold in them thar hills

THE term “gold leaf” now has a whole new meaning. CSIRO research has shown that gold does grow on trees. Or perhaps it would be more correct to say that trees grow in gold. That’s the concept behind a mineral discovery technique CSIRO pioneered which is now being used successfully by gold exploration and mining companies. Marmota Limited, a gold mining company working out of South Australia, recently reported IT had identified new gold targets using biogeochemical sampling at its Aurora Tank prospect. Put simply, biogeochemical sampling involves taking samples of vegetation, such as leaves from trees and shrubs, and testing the material for the presence of gold or other chemicals that often associate with gold, so-called pathfinder elements. Using...

In the Spotlight: Matsa Resources

Images: Matsa Resources BY: JESSICA CUMMINS WITH the commencement of mining operations at its Red Dog gold mine in the Goldfields in September, junior mining company Matsa Resources has ambitions to become a large gold producing company. Jessicia Cummins spoke with Matsa Resources executive chairman Paul Poli about the miner’s plans for the near-term and its partnership with AngloGold Ashanti. Q. How does it feel to now be mining at Red Dog, and how do you respond to those that may scoff at something this size? Last year we mined the Fortitude trial pit which was the precursor for us to go to the full scale of stage two mining at Fortitude, which we hope...

Commodity focus: Gold

Image: Gold Industry Group BY ELIZABETH FABRI WHILE the price had not yet returned to 2016 highs of $US1357 per ounce, on 11 August the price recorded a two month high of $US1289 – about $A1620 -- leaving many miners optimistic for the year ahead. At last month’s Diggers and Dealers conference, more than 2100 miners, investors and service companies touched down at one of Australia’s oldest gold towns, Kalgoorlie, WA, to celebrate the industry across three days of informative sessions, networking events (and late night soirees). While many commodities were covered across the forum, it was gold that dominated discussion with many conversations had on and off-site on the commodity’s ‘comeback’ amid a weaker US dollar, and war of...
